While exploring the Historic town of Ellijay, we happened to sit next to another couple that had actually just moved up to GA from Winter Garden (FL). They told us about Mercier Orchards and told us about their cider tasting flights and the market they have full of different food and products.

Growing up in Orlando, I'd never been to an Orchard before and didn't really know what to expect. The market itself was fun to shop around in, but the prime time to visit this orchard is definitely during apple picking season (around the end of August). They also offer different fruit "u-pick" events including strawberries (around mid April - early May), blackberries & blueberries (end of May - early June), and lastly, peaches (June/July).

But even though everything was out of season when we visited, there was sit a ton of different jellies, jams, popcorn, ciders, beers, wines, salsas and even pastas to purchase in the market.

John and I both shared a cider flight where we were able to choose from a list of about 10 or so ciders and wines. The tasting includes 4 options, but they also give out 1 complementary tasting per person, so we were able to choose a total of 6 ciders. This was a great deal, since price of the flight was only $6 (not including gratuity). The bartender was extremely knowledgeable about all of the options, and his descriptions were spot on.

An orchard of empty lil trees.

We grabbed a bite to eat in their little restaurant in the market (the veggie wrap was way better than I had expected!) and we went home with some kettle corn, peach honey mustard, pasta, candied pecans, apple spread and a beer with a apple cider twist. If we're in the area again we'll definitely be back!
